Help with Learning to Use GIMP

The GNU Image Manipulation Program, aka GIMP, is a powerful open source substitute for commercial programs like Photoshop.

In December 2008, Sam Dean put together a blog post that overviews "6 Ways to Get Much More out of GIMP. Dean mentions:
  1. GIMPshop — a modification of GIMP that replicates the feel of Photoshop.

  2. Grokking the GIMP — a manual available free online or for purchase in printed form.

  3. Registry of plug-ins for GIMP.

  4. Keyboard shortcuts for GIMP taken from Grokking the GIMP.

  5. GIMP tutorials.

  6. GIMP manual.
You can't do better than to use Dean's suggestions to familiarize yourself with GIMP's capabilities and how to use them.
