The Mindset of Too Many Russian Businesspeople
Whenever possible, it's just as well to learn from the mistakes of others, rather than waiting till you've made a mistake yourself to recognize that there's a better way.In that spirit, I offer the provocative post Stanislav Mishin added to his blog on Tuesday. In the post, Mishin describes the mistakes he believes many Russian manufacturers make in their approach to deal-making.
You really need to read Mishin's own words to get the full flavor of his diatribe (which he calls a "treatise"). I would just note that the lessons to be drawn fall in the areas of cultural sensitivity, negotiation, and communication. (I'd also note that you might or might not want to dip into the political ruminations you can find at Mishin's blog.)
