Fall Equinox 2008

To mark this year's Fall Equinox, here is a graphic of the celestial sphere, as diagrammed for students in astronomy courses taught by Guy Worthey at Washington State University . . .

The annual equinoxes and solstices fall along the ecliptic — the apparent path of the sun, relative to the stars on the celestial sphere, over the course of a year.
